Few doctors of traditional Chinese medicine had told us not to eat meat as far as we can, since that is the source of most illness, and we had found swine flu, SARS, foot mouth disease, bird flus and etc. are from poultry. Do you think if we have had too much meat? or so many diseases are reminding us stop and keep a kind of ecological balance?

Chinese old saying All 'Marketers are Liars for more'. They just care about how much they would earn. No conscience, you may see there are lots of food issues happened in recent years. I think the best way is to have a farm by myself. Planting crops and have poultry farming by ourselves. It is much safer and healthier.

That is an ideal to have a farm by myself. I love the farm life, but that is not reality for me. Maybe I can do that after I retire.

Welcome to mylot. Well, I think it's fine to eat meat but the problem is the way we raise these livestock. Chickens in poultry farms are in a bad living environment, have you seen the movie Food Inc.? It's really an eye-opening movie, regarding the bad practices in the agriculture, livestock and food industry. In our place, we personally have native chickens that we raise, they're really healthy and happy compared to their inorganic chickens in poultry farms.

No, I haven't seen that movie before, but I can imagine what a circumstance are. I like to raise chickens, but we don't have enough space, even the people in Beijing don't have enough space to raise themselves:)
