Attached is a photo of a flower that my husband brought home when it was only a bulb. He got it from a friend when visiting his cousin. We planted it and after three weeks this is what bloomed. (See pic) Does anyone know the name of this flower. I want to call it Red Trumpet but I don't know the real name of it. Thanks!

Lelin I responded on your picture. It is an amaryllis. We cannot grow them as outdoor plant here because our winters are too cold. I do not know what your winters are like. This plant will re bloom year after year. I have some that my mom had and also some that I bought on clearance at Wal Mart as they are considered to be Christmas plants. You need to look at it online and learn what you can about it for your area. In our area many people throw them away after they bloom but you can regrow them. Let the leaves die naturally then cut them off. Let the bulb go dormant then begin watering it again and it will grow again for you. It will even make more bulbs on its sides.

Thank you so much. That is what I needed to know the name so I could go online to do research. I live in Puerto Rico so we don't have winters here. This is going to be great to have this keep coming back. That is great that it will make more bulbs. Thank you again!.

I picture was sent on the same discussion name labeled #2. The first time I posted the discussion the picture didn't attach for some reason.

Actually it also happened to our yard in a Subdivision. I visited the placed ones a week for it was for rent and nobody is renting for two months. I just noticed when one day I visited the placed before I open the gate I have seen overcrowded flowers blooming all around the backyard it was very amazing and our neighbors said, the birds planted those flowers and is good for high blood but when I asked them of the name they can hardly named it.
