A heartburn is a burning sensation felt behind the breastbone and sometimes radiates into the neck or to the back. It is produced by the reflux of gastric secretions into the lower part of the esophagus or "gullet". Bending over or lying down usually aggravates the situation. In some cases particularly if the person is obese or pregnant heartburn is very likely to follow a heavy meal especially if the person goes to bed right after eating. It may be relieved by sitting up and by taking antacids and avoiding heavy meals. How do you treat a heartburn ?

Not too long ago I have come across an article about sleeping. For people with heartburn, they have to use a wedge pillow or simply use more pillows to prop up the head. This will prevent the stomach acid from coming back into the throat. There are medications for treating heartburn. Best consult a doctor to get a prescription.

Papaya enzyme is my go to cure for heartburn and other stomach ailments. It can be purchased at Walmart for $5 in the vitamin section, tastes like Sweet Tarts, and wipes out my digestive problems within 5 minutes!
