Using laptop without battery is it advisable? Do you also do it?

My laptop is already more than a year old and since I bought it I seldom use the battery. They say if I constantly use my laptop its better that I'm going to use my laptop directly to the socket and not use the battery anymore. And that's what I'm doing right now. But I'm just wondering if its has some complication or not. Because I read the laptop manual and theirs no instruction about using a laptop without the battery.

Hi, There's no problem using the laptop without a battery on it. However, you run the risk of voltage fluctuations that could have been stabilized by the battery. Fluctuations and sudden turning off and on of the power source on the wall socket can damage the hard disk drive in the long run.

Just the HDD? I'd have thought the other electronics would be even more vulnerable.

I have been using my MSI laptop without battery for more than two years already. I bought it in January 2009 and the battery no longer works since 2011. Actually, my battery was broken due to improper use. I did not remove the battery even though the laptop is plugged in the outlet. I think that it is much better to just remove the battery if you are using your laptop for a long period of time.

My laptop now is running for more than a year without any battery. But even though I seldom use the battery. Like just one to three days each month. I notice that now my battery charge up to 99% only. I guess even if I don't use my battery much its still can end up degrading. I will not be surprise if after five years my batter lifespan will be 70% or even less even though I don't use it anymore.

When I tried to use my laptop without battery it didn't started at all. How do you do this ? I tried many times but it doesn't work at all. I think using battery is better than direct use , if it is possible

What is the brand and model of your laptop? I handle four different laptop already and all is running without any battery so I found it strange that yours did not work. I guess its better that you consult a technician if you know one just to check your laptop UPS.
