The Printed Word is a Medium

The printed word is a medium. This is what Marshall McLuhan said. And as such, it will contain another form of medium. Understanding this insight is the key to achieving success with our writing especially in the digital age.
One commonly found medium in writing is the spoken word. This means we can put in print things people say or what a writer would say to his readers. Writing as if you are talking to people is therefore a good idea. This is the typical function of the printed word—to carry a conversation.

Not always. there is a myth that you should right the same way as you speak. It can be a good approach but one does have to take not of the message's syntax and structure. Sometimes, it is easier to say something when spoken and because it's instantaneous. However, writing gives the convenience of organization which makes the message clear, direct and sometimes clear enough for a umber of audience
