get paid for college sports?

I have mixed feelings about college players getting paid to play. On one hand they play hard and make a lot of money for the college. On the other hand why should they be treated different from other college students? Most of the athletes probably got a scholarship so they are there on a free ride. They get treated like royalty around campus. Some may even be on the road to pro ball and big bucks. But they shouldn't be punished for being great players and having a bright future. Then I think about the college student who is not going into a glamourous field like pro sports. That student will graduate unnoticed, have a ton of debt from all the college tuition, then go into a more thankless field. It might be a field that is very much needed and important but not high paying. So is paying college atheletes fair? I still cannot decide, but I'm thinking that no they should not get paid. Especially is they get a free ride with their tuition.

Well i strongly feel that only the best players should be awarded or paid on the basis of their performance in the matches and not everyone, it would otherwise take away the interest of other students as well as players from the sports, besides special treatment should never be given otherwise it would create a rift between the players and the students.
