…restrictions on donations?

Maybe I am looking too much on this issue. Here’s the thing – there’s a certain gentleman who wishes to donate a certain amount to a political campaign. My friend is as part of that campaign, accepted the donation. However, some of her colleagues are telling me to advise her to give the money back since the contributor was rumored to have shady dealings in the past. Before everybody jumps, one did produce a newspaper article regarding the matter. Personally, I doubt the story and even on the other political camp, there are other benefactors who has been cast of as dubious and shady as well. In addition, the said gentleman is considered as an ‘outsider’ or not exactly involved in the issue at hand. I am not sure if the other camp have ‘outsider’ contributor as well. Like in any campaign, I know my friend needs the money as support for the campaign. I don’t even know what I should be saying to my friend to be honest.

that is a really tough thing to have to decide really. i know that in your position i wouldnt really know what i should do or say either. something like this takes a lot of thought. if there was a newspaper article on it then it is probably true but at the same time people can change. maybe you can mention to your friend what you have heard what the rumors floating around are and then let your friend be the one to make the decision as to give the money back or not. most of all follow your heart and do what you think is the best or right choice.
