my father used to work abroad and when he finished his contract there, he found it hard to find a job here maybe because of his age. he stayed home for some time and took care of em since i'm the youngest. he would cook for me (he really cooks well) and would bring me to school. my mom has a regular job then and that would really compensate our financial needs. there was a time when he and my mother would fight because he was drinking, maybe out of frustration. of course it triggers his pride that his wife feeds her. as the man in the family, he should be the provider as the norm in the society. there were days when they won't talk and they sleep in different rooms. thank god they reconciled and my father eventually found work. though my mom still continues with her job. i wonder what can you say about house husbands or husbands who stay at home while the wife works? !

Yes it is a reversal of traditional roles but in this age where women are increasingly accomplished in the workplace I think it is acceptable. If one spouse needs to stay home to look after the family, it makes sense to have the lower-earning spouse stay home and if it happens to be the husband, then so be it. I agree it is harder for the guy to accept it due to pride but I can accept this. Although I suck at housework:)

For the first 10 years of our marriage, my husband has been just staying home. I was fine working coz I wanted to help my family. It has gotten to the point that my in laws have given up on him. He was given an amount to start a business man but it only last for 5 years and from then on, he just stayed at home again. Good think that my inlaws help us in our kids' needs. Just last year, he was asked to join by his brother to be his "right hand" for a project that will last one year. So that has pretty much help coz I have no job for the past 2 years. And relying on my online earnings is just not enough considering the amount that I have to pay each month for my internet connection.
