I'm furious with Disney

I’m furious with Disney club. I decided to join last Christmas to buy someone some DVD’s as a gift. It seemed like a good deal because I received a $10 gift card for joining and I was able to get some reasonably priced children DVD’s. I understand that I have to buy more DVD’s to meet the agreement, and that I have to decline the directors selection every month. I was in one of these clubs before but it wasn’t Disney. After a couple of months, I forgot to decline one movie and just kept it and gave it as another gift because the child had a birthday coming up. Now, though I now I declined the directors selection and I even received an email about my declining the director’s selection. The Disney club still sent me two DVD’s and charged my account $40. I emailed and the reply I got was that they had already processed the DVD’s and now I will have to send them back to get my money returned. Now I understand it is my responsibility to decline the director’s selection but I know I declined because I received an email saying so. I also think it’s odd that I received more than one director’s selection that month. You are only supposed to have to decline or accept once a month, so why am I receiving more than one?

Wow...well in reading the comments, sounds like it is normal protocal for this type of thing! I did this back in the 90's with Columbia House and another CD place...get 12 for a penny and then you have to buy 4 more in the next 2 years or something like that. I did the math and it was a pretty good deal...maybe 3/4 of what you'd pay in a store for all 16 plus shipping on every order. And I did end up ordering a few outside the offer commitment. And there was monthly selections automatically sent too... but I turned them all down first. And the thing was...if I remember right...I got tired of dealing with that every month (it was online) and I cancelled it. I had bought all I was liable for, and I never gave them my bank account, just wrote a check every order. I will never give my bank account to anyone like this for this exact reason. Yeah, you might get your money back, but it can take a month or so and all that work and frustration! I think they do this intentionally, hoping that you won't bother over $40 and they get the final $40 out of you since you cancelled!

Those kind of clubs and business that involves paying can get out of control anytime. mind that they are trying to make money, so it is natural that they have these strategies that will make you pay as much as possible. I say you should quit that club if you find them unreliable.

Yes they did the same thing to me and were very rude about it too. That is why I no longer am a member there. Sorry it also happened to you. I believe it is the rude customer svc people on the end of the phone, thinking they own Disney or something.
