30th birthday party music? Help¡¡

I need help with music for one friend's 30th birthday party.He's quite streseed-out and sad right now due to a sentimental break-up, and we're giving him a surprise. Most the guests are about 30 years old, except two people who are in their sixties.
What genres would you play and what genres would you avoid?
