I was Disciplined (spanked) as a child and i turned out fine. Why is it today that it is so bad for parents to "spank" their children

Don't you think hitting some-one smaller and weaker than you isn't bullying? I hit,'spanked' my child once, it made me feel terrible. It used to be teachers and anyone in authority could 'spank', it was said when teachers could 'spank' classes 'behaved'. You know what? The kids were quiet, but they learned little. Now classes are noisy, busy places, full of learning children. Hitting makes for fear and compliance to avoid being hurt; the only thing it teaches is dodging. You say 'it did me no harm', well if spanking did no harm why are you posting this? Do you have irrational rages, eg road rage? Is your instinct to spank first, find cause second? Did you no harm huh? Maybe not physically, but psychologically probably.

Actually no i am a very sane person. As i grew up i realize the importance of spanking.. um think about this, up until the baby boom in the mid 1900s it was almost mandatory for parents to spank their children it taught the difference between right and wrong and made children respect their parents, and if you have not noticed crime rates were substantially lower than today. When parents began to stop spanking their children they for the most part turned into disrespectful delinquents (ex. hippies). The nation today wonders why kids are so destructive, disrespectful and do so many things wrong, its because they dont know what they are doing wrong. There are kids today shooting up schools and killing innocent people, saying F***YOU to their own parents and you wonder why? its because they aren't raised right!.... if i said that to my mother she would slap the hell out of me, then at that moment i know not to say that again to her. Yes i know causing pain to your child is sometimes painful, but you have to look at the big picture, would you rather have your child saying "please and thank you" or would you want them to say "i hate you". I posted this because i want to give people who are opposed to this concept a different perspective.. thank you
