I write about Monument of Heroes or "Cross" (popular name) from Bucegi, located in a great area. Here we spent the holidays with my family. "Cross" was conducted by the care of King Ferdinand and Queen Maria of Romania, during 1926-1928 "Prahovan glory and the heroes who fell in World War I, 1916-1918, Patriotic" as is written on the memorial board fixed on the north side of the socket, and is at a height of 2291 m, close to the peak rate reached Caraiman (2386m) and was the highest steel structure located in an area montana. Are an overall height of approx. 39.3m (of which 8.35m are socket) and a horizontal arm span of about 15m. Socket, concrete, made after the inauguration, for better embedding metal structure housed in the two interior levels, an electric generator, which operate the 120 bulbs distributed central body and arms. The cross was lit on the night of Saint Mary's (15 August) and the night of Ascension (June 5), when it is celebrated and Remembrance Day. ln the moment when the execution works, "Cross" was the tallest structure in Europe metallic located more than 2000m. altitude can be compared to engineering and symbolic execution with the Eiffel Tower in Paris, with the Statue of Liberty in New York or Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro. If you have the opportunity to come to Romania do not miss visiting this monument and the surrounding mountain areas.
