What kind of big birds fly at night?

Besides owls--what kind of big birds fly at night, that might have dropped a 12.5" dark gray/light black feather on my 2nd floor veranda at between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. in the morning? It was a muggy, breeze less night--it was impossible for the wind to have blown it up against the veranda door. It had to have fallen from the sky.
