Every man ought to aim at eminence,not by pulling others down, but by raising himself and enjoy the pleasures of his own superiority, whether imaginary or real , without interrupting others in the same felicity. We should ride our emotions as the scallop rides rides the waves,do not get upset among them.There is nobody in the world who does not want to be rich and famous.But it does not mean that we start backbiting him and humiliate him. This is a principle that we should think of our own progress Instead of abusing the rich and famous. It takes a great deal of elevation of thought to produce a very little elevation of life.
