Many people use spray on sunscreen for its convenience, however there are dangers in using it on children. Children tend to move more than adults during application, and the aerosol component is not safe to be inhaled. If there are no other options but spray on sunscreen, don't let your child run around unprotected. Instead, spray into your hands and rub onto their skin, to avoid any adverse health issues while using it. It's not just hazardous to a child's health though. Breathing in chemicals like that, through aerosol spray, is hazardous to anyone using it. So if you can, use a lotion you can spread onto your skin. If absolutely necessary, spray the sunscreen into your hands and spread onto the skin. The main concern here is to make sure your being protected from the UVA or UVB rays, depending on whether you're using a broad spectrum lotion or not. Doctors suggest it and now backed by consumer reports that you use a SPF 30 broad spectrum lotion, SPF being "sun protection factor", measuring how well the sun screen deflects UVB rays. UVB rays are what actually burn and damage the skin, while UVA rays are what prematurely age the skin. So in using a broad-spectrum lotion you are getting protection from both and also avoiding possible inhalation of the chemicals in the aerosol spray type sunscreen. Always keep yourself and your loved ones protected against the sun's harmful rays. Just keep in mind the also potential dangers in using a spray sunscreen, as opposed to a typical lotion spread. Keep all these factors in mind, especially with your young children, as their skin is going to be especially sensitive. Although it hasn't been proven, the possibilities of creating asthmatic symptoms in small children are always exists when using an aerosol spray sunscreen. So continue to protect yourselves but keep those things in mind all the time to prevent any adverse effects or issues arising from the aerosol spray type sunscreens. If nothing else, research is always helpful. And if a product has led to any sort of injury, you may need to file a claim if you’re battling injury and significant medical bills.
