Today my 6-year-old queried me "Mummy my book says - mother is a child's first teacher. Is it true? Are you my first teacher? How?" This made me think about the role a mother plays in a child's life. Since a child is with its mother most of the time, than he/she is with anybody else including father, it is mother who instills many important lessons of life in a child. It is a mother who teaches a child manners, habits, early education, including how and what the child speaks. Later on as the child grow older, it falls on his/ her mother for moral support, answers for problems, etc. I learnt a lot of good lessons of life from my mother and am happy to pass it on to my children. And as for my child's query I said, "Yes, I am your first teacher darling," and she was very happy.
