Solidarity day with Peshawar Shohada at NUST

NUST observed a day of solidarity with the Shohada of Peshawar on December 17, 2014. A session was arranged at Jinnah Hall at 3:00 p.m. in which a large number of students, staff and faculty participated. Mr Muhammad Ilyas Chishti conducted the session as the master of ceremony. The session started with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. All the audience joined Qari Sahib in prayers for the martyrs of December 16, 2014, who laid down their lives in the tragic terror attack on Army Public School, Warsak road, Peshawar. Students expressed their grief in their moving speeches. Many emotional scenes were observed on the occasion, as no eye was dry. In the end, Rector NUST offered his concluding remarks. As he consoled the audience and shared his feelings on the most unfortunate incident of the attack on a school, he advised everybody to bear the tremendous loss with patience and courage. He assured the students and faculty that NUST Administration was fully mindful and prepared to ensure the security of everybody on the campus. He advised all to keep an eye on mischief-mongers and intimate any suspicious movement on the campus to the security office. The Rector praised the role of the Defense Forces of Pakistan who were taking all possible measures to safeguard the boundaries of the motherland while rendering supreme sacrifices with their lives. The session was followed by a walk led by the Rector himself. The participants carried placards expressing solidarity with the families of the victims of Peshawar massacre.
