Anyone who has ever tried to stop smoking can confirm that it is very difficult to do. Nicotine is the primary ingredient in tobacco and it causes a person who smokes over a long period of time to become dependent. Nicotine acts as a stimulant, but then later in larger amounts it has a more tranquilizing effect. This is what causes dependence or an addiction over time. There are 3 ingredients in tobacco; Tar, nicotine, and carbon monoxide. Tar- is not absorbed by the body, but deposited in the cell linings in the respiratory tract and the lungs, and they act as irritants. ]Nicotine- is absorbed into the blood stream and has a totally different effect. It can increase or slow the heart rate, raise blood pressure and stimulate the body by releasing adrenaline- yet it holds back the muscles action to a state of paralysis- it is this effect that makes nicotine useful in garden insecticides. Nicotine is a brain stimulant, it so receiving high doses can produce muscle cramps, vomiting, and diarrhea this is a very toxic drug. Carbon monoxide- is in the smoke, this gas is absorbed in the blood stream where it interferes with the red blood cells and prevents them from performing their function of transporting oxygen from the lungs to the body’s tissues. The smoke particles irritate the tiny hairs in the cells of the lungs and destroy the walls of the air sacs as well. Major risks for smokers are an increase in heart attacks, lung disease, bronchitis, emphysema, and asthma. Cancer of the mouth, larynx, bladder, and esophagus are all a possibility of developing, do to the power of cigarettes the number of years and how much was smoked. When a person decides to quit, emotional and physical symptom’s such as stress and anxiety occur. Some symptoms of withdrawal include headaches, nausea, restlessness, poor concentration, trembling and irritability. These symptoms often cause smokers to smoke again, even though they are determined to quit, because of the addiction they are looking for the relief. It is a difficult challenge, but it is possible to break the nicotine addiction by natural remedies that can help with the withdrawal symptoms. To break the nicotine addiction, you must accept that it is a habit. As difficult as it may be when faced with stressed situations find other ways to deal with them. If you smoke for pleasure or just casual your risk of nicotine addiction is much less. Some ways to help break the habit -a cleansing of the body through fasting and dieting and using natural herbs will help cleanse the blood.
