Is it true that a dart board will dry out over time?

Hi, so I recently had a conversation with a friend about this. I started playing darts, even bought my own board and all. So this friend told me that I will have to buy a new dart board in a few years time as they dry out?? This seems strange to me. Does a dart board really dry out over time?

No. The dart boards we play with now doesn’t dry out at all due to the materials it is made out off. In the early 1900’s they were made from hard wood that did dry out quite a lot, but Nodor started making dart boards from a low maintenance sisal fiber which doesn’t dry out at all.
