Starting a non profit incorporation

Me and a group of are going to start a non profit organization mainly aimed for the education of homeless children. We are not sure about the procedures for starting this though. If someone could help us with the formalities it would be really great. So if anyone has experience in this area please help us. Thanks in advance.
