10 Things About Me

I realize many of you already know each other from MyLot back in the day. Since I'm new here though I'm going to tell you about myself and leave it open if you'd care to do the same. So, 10 things about me-
1. I live in Saint Louis, Missouri.
2. I taught high school special education for 5 years, currently disabled though due to mental and physical health issues
3. I'm teaching myself Spanish. Want to teach myself Cisco and to code also.
4. I'm engaged. I met my fiance via Second Life 8 years ago. We've been engaged since the day before Thanksgiving.
5. I lost my dad very suddenly on December 9th, I was the one to find him and do CPR. Tomorrow (Aug 6) would be his birthday. I've had a very hard time emotionally since his death.
6. I have 4 pets - 2 dogs, a rat, and a hamster.
7. Currently living with my mom in a less than ideal situation.
8. I love sushi, I would eat it for every meal if I could!
9. I randomly stumbled upon MyLot.
10. I am 30, but act like I'm 12 way too often for my own good.
Who would like to tell me about themselves?

Welcome to MyLot!
I'm sorry about your dad, that must have been hard finding him like that.
I also have 2 dogs (as you can see in my profile picture) and I have always had a dog in my life, whether it is mine or my neighbor's. I started dog sitting about 9 years ago for various neighbors (Hence the fact that their dog is my dog too
) and I help my daughter on Fridays and Sundays bathing dogs at her dog grooming shop.
I also have written two novels, but they are not edited for publishing. This fall will be my last semester, I am getting an associates degree in literary arts and science, majoring in creative writing and it was an old MyLot member who helped me go through the steps to start college. In one of my classes I had to write a short story which I took and revised and I did self-publish because it is easier to edit a short story than a 60,000 plus novel. My Facebook author page is on my profile, so if you have facebook you can keep up with the latest there.
I have four children. My oldest doesn't talk to me. My 27 y/o son lives here but is looking to buy a house. My daughter, who I mentioned before, not only owns a dog grooming shop, but is also taking college classes with me and we will walk together next year. and finally my 13 y/o son who is a handful and so funny.
And, even though my number is low, I actually first signed up when MyLot was still new and I removed my account when they made changes I didn't agree with. I am back now and catching up with old friends and making new ones, like you.

Oh and my dogs? They are literal sisters, Penny and Ciara, border collie/beagle mix and a bigger handful than my son.

I would like to tell you ten things about myself, but I am very private about what I put on the net. Email is a different story, so if you want details, let me know and I'll message you my email addy.......
Anyway, here are some things I will share:
1. I've been a Mylot member since it first appeared on the net. That's nearly 10 years.
2. I am married with two sons of my own, one stepson, one adopted son and one adopted daughter.
3. Last year my stepson had a baby girl and I am an over the moon Grandma.
4. I am a Solitary Practicing Wiccan but do NOT dabble in the dark arts or the occult.
5. I live in the middle of nowhere and it's rather lonely at times, but I have an active intellect, so I'm never bored.
6. I have a dog and a stray cat that visits only when it wants to.
7. I believe that love is the greatest healer of all and I don't stand for anyone who actively goes against just being NICE to those they don't know or understand, especially online.
8. I read voraciously, love to garden and in a past life had my own decorating company for 20 years.
9. I am a 2 time cancer survivor as is my oldest son.
10.I've traveled A LOT during the course of my life and the experiences I've gained in doing so have been invaluable to me.

Here's a little bit about myself:
I've been married to my husband for the past 20 years.
We have 2 teenage boys, the oldest one being autistic.
I live near Sacramento. I've lived in the area the majority of my life, hence the username sacmom.
I have 1 dog (a 7 month old chihuahua), 1 cat (which had belonged to my mom, but took him in after my stepfather past away), 2 parrots, chickens, a leopard gecko, and a betta fish.
I just turned 40 last month and definitely act my age...most of the time! lol
