My mom spoils the dogs too much!

And she wonders why our smaller Chihuahua is so overweight! She's currently cooking me a turkey burger, and put an extra one on that she intends to give half to each dog. She gives them each deli meat turkey on top of their dog food twice a day, and dog treats twice a day. This is in addition to the recommended amounts of dog food. Yet she still doesn't understand why one is overweight. One of them can eat anything and her metabolism burns it off, but the other looks like a little football linebacker she is so wide.

Ohh my!
I'm all for spoiling pets, but not killing them! Deli meat is *loaded* with salt; something a dog doesn't need!
I spilled my Sugar. She was sensitive to certain foods when I got her it took awhile to funds one she could eat. In the meantime, I boiled chicken, de-boned it and add rice and carrots. She loved it and it didnt upset her digestive track.

It is not good to let a dog become overweight as it can cause harm to their system and to feed them people food is not a good thing. Most of the doggy treats you buy at the store will also make them gain weight. For a treat green beans or rice crispies is okay for them to have.

It looks more like indulgence than spoiling. Love for our pets is manifested when we take care of their health and overfeeding does not come under that category, sadly.

MY 60 year old son in law does the same to their 5 Shitzus.
