He thought I would upchuck the coming baby on him!

I had six children. Number 3, (numbering them is easier here), a boy was going on 6 when #6 was about to be welcomed on earth. As the time approached, he kept getting farther and farther away from me when we were in the same room. One day I asked him why he didn't want to feel the baby kick inside my tummy anymore. His face blanched, looked like he would faint, and blurted out, "No way, I'm not having you puke that baby onto me!" Seems his best friend down the street told him how babies were 1) made (we women eat seeds) 2) born. (we women just vomit them when we are tired of them kicking us!) Hiding my amusement, I assured him I would do the deed in the hospital and he didn't have to worry. Waited until he was 10 or so for the birds and the bees talk, however. No, he didn't fully buy the hospital story--got the biggest hug when I came home with #6, and he said, "Oh Mommy, I missed you for so long!"

How lovely! Children are just so wonderful and it is amazing what they come up with. But life would be very dull without them. Hugs are priceless.
