How to understand passages asked in competitive exams?

Hello. At present i am also preparing for compeititive exams.In those kinds of exam, there are questions like Reading Comprehension, means reading paragraphs.
But how to understand these types of paras.They are mostly based on economy. So how to understand these types of paragraphs?

Reading Comprehension is a type of exam wherein we will be allowed to read a selection and a series of question will follow. In order to answer this type of exam accurately, we have to get the main idea of the selection. Taking down notes will be helpful and will help you finish the exam faster.

Yes, it is very important to take important notes from the passage.By this way we can understand the theme of the passage or main point we can inferred from it.
