Talking With Your Hands

United States

I am originally from Louisiana, and it's common knowledge that we tend to talk with our hands. No, folks, I don't mean hand gestures such as shooting someone the bird. Although those have been included quite a few times. I mean normally when we talk, our hands are constantly in motion, moving just as much as our lips. So for me chatting online and my fingers flying over the keys, makes me feel quite at home. Do you use your hands when you talk?

I do not think I talk with my hands too much. I always heard it was Italians that talked with their hands. Never heard that about people from Louisiana.

Too much? So you do use your hands when you talk. Oh yeah, us Cajuns are well known for it. The more excited we get with our talking the more the hands go.

@TexanTornado I may occasionally gesture but not often. Mostly I talk with my hands online like this.

@GardenGerty I understand. Yes, typing can be considered using your hands to talk.

I'm not from Louisiana, but I've been known to use my hands when I talk from time to time!

Nothing wrong with that. It's more fun that way!

It was the same with me but with some control it has reduced a bit now but I still use my hands to express.

I guess I just have no control. Especially when I get excited about something I am talking about, it seems my hands have a mind of their own.

I don't talk with my hands so much..I do gesture sometimes but I am a little conscious of this.. I have knocked down mikes while giving talks and lectures.. so I tend to restrain myself.

I can see that happening. Perhaps you need a mic where they could just clip it onto your top.
