Preliminary House Hunting for a Friend

I have a friend in New York who wants to move to my neck of the woods. I've been helping with the searches online and I let him know what the area is like, etc. My husband and I just took a ride by one of the homes I found yesterday. It is only a 10 minute ride from us. Nice brick home on a nice quiet country road! I took a few photos of the other homes along the road, just so he can see what it's like. He will be coming back down in a few weeks and has quite a good selection of homes to look at in person.
I like the one we rode by today the best so far, I guess because it's close to us!
Have you ever helped a friend in a similar way?

A few years back (2012), one of the relatives of a friend migrated to my city. My friend had been transferred to another state due to his job and as he was not around, I had to complete most of the formalities.
Luckily, by then, I had got in touch with an agent who would take 50% of the first months rent as his compensation but would find you a place of your choice. He had helped us find our rented place and as such, we had come a little close. I trust his services. So he was the one who did most of the things. All I did was co-ordinate between the friend's relatives, their requirements and this agent.

It's fun helping - my friend lives over 800 miels away so any advice I offer him is very appreciated. Sounds like you did your good deed also.

My friend will be down here in about two weeks, I'll let him look at the inside. I just wanted to see what the road/area looked like. If a house is in a not so good location I would tell him not to bother.

After going to India, I too have to search for a rented house for me and my mother either in Hyderabad or in Kadapa-India
