Am I Over Reacting

I woke up this morning to the sound of machinery. When I came downstairs I noticed that the neighbors had hired someone to cut the hedge between our yards. It had gotten out of control and it belongs to them. The crew was in my yard with scaffolding and men in my yard throwing greenery on our property and coming very close to my garden. I am upset that they did not ask permission to be using our yard, that is just common courtesy. They are getting close to my apple tree and I am concerned they may damage it. So am I over reacting or should they have asked us if we minded them using our yard to trim the hedge? In my opinion they are trespassing.

Over here the Environmental Health Department of the local Council would be rung up. However, due to cutbacks they'd probably tell me they couldn't do anything, therefore I'd go 'Oi! Pack it in..or else!' the workmen.

@BelleStarr Maybe you can casually ask them to let you know next time so you can be prepared.... you can be nice about it but firm... Like "Wow, I was surprised to see the workers! Maybe next time could you let me know?"

@TLChimes I guess but it was just too rude. I rarely speak to them.

I don't think you are over reacting at all. I would feel the same way. They should have let you know and asked your permission.

We have a casual relationship with these neighbors we are not friendly but have never had an issue. I thought that would be the proper thing to do.

I would have felt the same way too.. i don't like people getting into my property without my permission. I don't like my garden dirtied and trampled. nope I would have reacted even more I guess.. I would have called my neighbor and said something.
