Ever had a crime occur in your neighborhood?

I don't know what made me think of this but when my daughter was about nine(1980)I came home from work one evening and found cars parked all over the neighborhood. I thought perhaps there was a party in one of the apartments. A rather busy dame who lived in one of the apartments came out of hers just as I was getting out. She could hardly contain her excitement and had to tell what was going on. No party. A young boy had been out playing in the yard and his mom had just popped in the apartment to check on what she had in the oven. She came back out a few seconds later and he was gone. She looked all over, went door-to-door, she went to the main road and asked at businesses and everywhere. Nothing. She never saw her son again as far as I know. There had been a man driving through the neighborhood a week or so previously and had been trying to entice children into his car by telling them his kitty was lost and would they please come help him find it. He had been reported and hadn't been around for awhile. This story always sticks with me. Horrible loss and I often wonder about the mother and how she is doing. I can't imagine losing a child and never knowing what became of them.

Have you ever heard of a neighborhood that hasn't had a crime happen? There was a murder the year before we moved in here, and the husband was convicted of killing his wife this year.

How would I really know. There are a lot of neighborhoods out there. One reason I wrote the discussion.

That also happens here in the Philippines in some place . It was in the news so people are so cautious of letting their children walk alone on the road.

Good to be cautious. I am glad about the laws that have been made here in the US regarding such things.
