Nashville is Jumpin' Today!

I'm in Nashville for a concert, the second night (and third show) of my four-day, five-show road trip. I was rather surprised by the heavy crowds of pedestrians on the touristy "Lower Broadway" part of downtown. I don't know of anything going on in town (the CMA festival was in June, the Americana festival isn't until next month, and the CMA awards are in November) that would justify such a large presence. Additionally, this isn't a holiday weekend (that's next weekend, for Labor Day). Maybe it's the incredible weather: low 80's, which is more mid-September weather for Nashville. (In late August it's usually in the 90's with humidity at about the same place.) It's good to see the people out and enjoying themselves, however. I hope they're all safe and having fun while in town.

Nashville is a pretty cool town in the touristy areas like downtown and by the Opry and Opry Mills (not to mention the non-music things like the Parthenon and the Hermitage). It's like any city, though: you have to know what parts of town to avoid.

I have wanted to see the south for many years. I travelled a little when younger but never made it past Louisiana. The warmer weather in the winter months would be nice too although my state has been having more moderate temps the last few years.
