Why didn't anybody help them?

I just read about Aylan Kurdi,a three year old toddler whose lifeless body washed ashore Turkey after his family's unsuccessful attempt to migrate to Greece from Turkey. I watched people quarrel in the comments section over how they are "economic immigrants" who would "steal jobs" in the host country and not people trying to flee from war and the clutches of ISIS. About 2600 people had DIED at sea trying to reach Greece and Italy.It's a rude awakening.Why are all the countries so dead set against helping out the immigrants?
