This is a topic I've been seriously pondering about lately... Are our schools preparing kids to face the real world... As far as I can tell in India it isn't so... The proof is in the number of suicides that take place every time a 10th or 12th graders results are released... And all the competitive exams that take place, its the same story all over again... I think that in the west this pressure does not exist on students to score high marks... But maybe they are too relaxed in the west which might be reason for a lot of high school drop outs, but here in India the pressure is only for the student to get high marks to get into the best medical or engineering college... But what about afterwards are kids prepared to face the ups and downs of life? They get almost all their information about life from the internet and from movies but is all that true? What ever happened to elders mentoring the youngsters? Is there a new generation of immature youngsters being sent into the world by our schools? What do you think?

I think here in the usa they dont. They teach alot of things kids dont need. Compared to schools in mexico where they teach diff. I think we are lacking. I do understand math and things are neccesary.. but other thing arent. maybe qwe need an over haul n education. what is being taught might need to change some what.

I definitely think that the school system itself needs an overhaul and if the teachers are of the highest caliber than out they should go.

I think a lot of what they teach here in the US schools are needlessly taught and not of use in the every day world we live in. Some kids can not even add or subtract without a calculator. How is that going to help in the electric is out and they are making change. Kids are being tested here also and under a lot of pressure.
