Dogs chase cats

Why do doggs chase cats is it something that they have in common or just like to do it kinda strange

I think it is fun to watch dogs chasing cats. Cats are always so lazy. They rather sleep than do anything else. I think a dog will make the cat exercise a bit more, else the cat will get fat! Sometimes I think modern living makes dogs and cats lazy too.
