I mean really....my daughter's boyfriend is a nice enough guy and does the best he can. But he fell off of a Hotel building down town years a go and is semi parolized on one side, can't talk plainly, has seizures, and also has shrapnel in his back from when he was in the Army and was in the Dessert Storm situation in 1990. But, the guy smokes like a chimney and has the nerve to come in here and ask me for money to buy him ANOTHER pack of cigarettes. I already bought him one and he said he'd pay me back last week. Nope, I don't like to buy them anyway. I would love to see them both quit. My daughter smokes also. But, when you figure it has been a habit for 30+ years it is easy to understand how it might be hard to quit. I just really don't like financing people's habits. I have enough of my own.

I will not give anyone money for a bad habit. Only for food if they are hungry.

If they have the habit of smoking they should finance it own their own because you also have your own bills to pay.Asking money for something that is not necessary is not a good thing Smoking is not good as well. It is extremely bad for their health.

In a perfect world that would be the way I would handle it too. Obviously you haven't had any bad habits. They are difficult to deal with and when you couple that with other stressful issues smoking becomes something different all together.
