Increase the camaraderie by suggesting others' posts

The community here has totally misunderstood the purpose of the 'suggest' option. It is there for you to suggest posts written by others and not your own, thus increasing the camaraderie. It will make a huge difference when you think of others and not yourself. myLot I am sure had this thought in mind when introducing this option. There is a steady flow in my 'suggest' box of posts that belong to senders - 40 and still counting.

Do you know for certain that it is what Mylot had in mind? Is it in the Rules? I do respond to people suggesting their posts to me, and those are the only people I have suggested my own to in return. I was a little diffident about it, but I figured that if they send their posts to me, there is no harm sending back to them. I actually like having posts suggested to me, but that may change if I get a flood of them. However, if I saw what I consider to be an outstanding post from someone I would have no hesitation in suggesting it to my friends.

Not so clearly but there have been comments made under different posts about what the suggest option is for.and I think it makes sense. It is fine responding to posts that you receive in your 'suggest box' Here is a post I found which you might like to go through
Someone sent me three suggestions today, or rather the same suggestion three times. It amounted to I just wrote this article. I suggest you come and look at it...

@LadyDuck Strangely there is no mention made about this option itself but everything need not be explained but understood by the community.

I agree with @jaboUK, nowhere is state that we have to suggest other people posts. Most of the time I see that people suggest their own posts. Quite frankly, I prefer to go through all the posts of the people I follow and ignore the suggestions.

After doing it a couple of times I have stopped suggesting my own posts. As yet I haven't suggested those of others, but can really see your point. I delete most of the suggestions from my Suggestions page.

At best those who suggest should first go to those who they suggest their posts to and respond to their posts. That will make some sense.

Admin may not have explained but the community should understand its purpose.

I don't think I will ever use the suggest button unless I actually know someone well enough that I think they truly would want to read an article that I want to show them. Like you I am getting suggestions of posts to read from the people who wrote them. I feel like some day I am going to be inundated with massive amounts of posts from every user wanting me to check out their post so they earn more income. Honestly that would be awful if my feed got filled up with that much. Right now its not enough that I am complaining though.. yet.

It can slow down our work here with so much load added. I have made my case and the rest is with Admin to do something about it. I do not open my 'suggest' box

What exactly does 'camaraderie' mean?

This is what the Net dictionary says: " mutual trust and friendship among people who spend a lot of time together. "the enforced camaraderie of office life" synonyms: friendship, comradeship, fellowship, good fellowship, companionship, brotherliness, brotherhood, sisterhood, closeness, affinity, togetherness, solidarity, mutual support"

@allknowing Ah, I see... now it all makes sense! You've brought up a really valid point about the 'suggest' feature. Maybe that is what we should be doing.
