What does the other side of the world look like?

Some days ago I read an article about some of the stupid questions that people ask on Yahoo Answers. One of the questions was: ”When I look at a map all of the countries are on the one side, what does the other side look like?” The person who asked the question seemed to think that there was a hidden world on the other side of the map One of my classmates once asked the same question, I think that it was in 10th grade or something like that. She looked at the map and then she said: ”Why do we never see the other side of the map?” Our geography teacher was shocked, but my classmate wasn't joking, she actually believed that there were some countries on the other side of the map, and she was suprised to discover the truth about the map. Are you good at geography? Have you heard any funny geography questions?

One very creative one that I heard, was from a relative, who wondered that if the world was a sphere and it rotated around the sun, then why didn't the water on it, fall off in open space!

I havent ever heard anyone say that..I am surprised. Funny how some people think I love geography still and was loving it in school also. I guess some of travelling when I was young also helped to learn of the world.

Yes, travelling is great way to learn about the world I love travelling, I can't afford it now, but it has always been one of my biggest passions. I share your ideas about geography. In school I loved learning about other countries, and I still love to read about other countries and cultures. I could talk about that topic for a long time

Hi, dear friend! First of all, check me as the site "unfollowed" you from me. The funniest thing I have heard was that a small town girl did not accept that Santiago, the capital of my country, was much bigger than where she lived. After all, Santiago was just a dot in the map.

Hi, nice to see you again I guess she never visited Santiago. On the map even the largest city looks like a dot I love maps, I like to dream about the many interesting places that I want to visit.

pretty scary that many still don't grasp the World being round - maybe the other side has the words 'this end up' on it, or 'made in Taiwan'.

Made in Taiwan I was a little shocked when my classmate asked why we didn't see the other side of the map. We were in the 10th grade, but she didn't know that the map didn't have a hidden side

No, but one person did ask some questions about why here in NZ and Australia we refer to ourselves as down under. As a child my father convinced me that if I dug a deep enough hole I'd make a direct link with China.

I live in Europe and my parents told me the same thing. When I was a small child I believed that I would get to China if the hole was deep enough, and I was disappointed when I discovered that it wasn't true
