Civil War Reenactment.

The American Civil War comes to my small village every year. I'ts quite exciting. They shut the road off and have an actual war right on our main street. They shoot of cannons and muskets, the smoke gets thick and the noise gets loud. Then, as the North pushes the South toward our circle, the North wins the war and you can visit the tent hospital. They have tents set up through the entire town for three days. The tents in the circle have peddlers selling old time goods. People walk around in period clothes and if feels like you've stepped back in time. Have you ever been to a reenactment like this?

We have several Medieval celebrations in Italy. They dress like in year 1,300, offer the food they used to eat and show you how things were made at those time. About the setting, there are several villages that have not changed from year 1300.

That sounds interesting and like fun also. I'd love to see the costumes.

They do have those sort of things in the UK (obviously not relating to the American Civil War), but I've not been to any.

I took part in English Civil War re-enactments until a few years ago - lack of money alone stops me going back. I absolutely love it. I have seen American Civil War shows live and they look impressive too

I had to work this year and it's my first year living in this village. But, next year, I'm dressing up. I'll be working all winter making my dress. Even if I have to work I'm wearing it.

@arthurchappell That's what I was thinking. I'll have a simple work dress and apron.

@PrarieStyle you could make the dress in traditional ways in the living history village to show how it was made in the times re-enacted

No, @PrarieStyle , I haven't. It sounds similar to some of the features in Silver Dollar City, though. Have you ever gone there, and if you have is that anything like what you are talking about?

No, I haven't, but I would love to see one re-enacted in Fredericksburg, VA. That is the time period and setting of my novel.
