How to engage the mind?

At one time families often lived together, Grandma and Grandpa and Mom and Dad and grandkids. Good or bad, folks pooled their resources and rowed together. Since June my husband and I have lived with my aged Mom. We've had a hard time adjusting and so has she. Tonight the Super Moon and the Eclipse has given us several entertaining hours. We live a bit away from other houses and their light pollution. This really increases the ability to view the night landscape of stars as well as the moon's phases. This celestial treat has strengthened my ties to my Mom, helping us past any knots we might have together. We continue to forge on with the radio, refusing to harbor TV in our environment. I continue to seek ways to entertain and assist my Mom's mental capabilities to their fullest. I do check out DVDs from the library. Anyone else out there living with their elders?

I live far away from my Mom, but I'd love to be closer. It's good you're sharing her last years like that.
