How do I promote a dance event?

Hello everyone, my cousin is going to conduct a dance event in Toronto this December. She owns a dance school and this is her first major event. She wants this to be a huge event and has started promoting this already. We are printing posters and flyers and will be distributing them. Also they will be conducting flash mobs next month in and around Toronto. Other than these what else can be done? Will wild card postings and billboards be effective for an event promotion?
