Dancing the way through life

I have been dancing since I was 7. My dance teacher was a friend of mom. Every Friday and Saturday I went to Future Foundation School to learn Bharatnatyam and Manipuri, and slowly over a period of time, I got better and joined her private classes. There were more than 10 examinations and 20 performances: The part when I put my mind and heart into it. But studies caught up, I passed high school and went to college. Dancing lessons ended there. 10 years of fun, frolic, learning about my culture and respecting this powerful art form.....it made up most of my childhood. I still love doing it. Last year I was in the inaugurating dance performance of the annual social of our college (the display picture shows it) and this year I was to perform in a competition in another college, but broke my hand. I was so sad about it. That's when I knew how much I loved it. The studies are really time-consuming, but I realise it isn't an excuse. I'll try and keep my passion alive by participating where I can. Dance is my way of connecting with the force of happiness and passion around me. It'll stay with me for the rest of my life.

Thanks @simone10 it does. And a lot of hard work was put when I was in practice. Now it's no practice but I do shake a leg when my favourite music is on The dance training really pays off now when I participate in college shows.

I remember that when I was a kid I wanted to become a professional dancer (a ballerina), unfortunately I never took lessons, but I admire those who are good dancers.

@ria1606roy I was fascinated by the ballet shoes, I tried them, because one of my friend took dance lesson. You cannot always have what you like in life.

@LadyDuck that is so true. There are some things I wish I had received in life, but if it's not to happen, what can we do? Instead we should turn to check out what we have been lucky to get in life. In your case, instead of dancing, I'm sure you've gotten something really good.

@celticeagle Sounds like you may have enjoyed yourself when you were dancing through the house. Why not do it when you get the chance to. I think dancing it such an awesome way to express your emotions.

There are so many reality dance shows. Did you ever think of participating? I am watching Dance+ and a pair who is into classical Indian dancing is among the 8.

I like dance reality shows. I avidly followed the dance shows on Star Plus, and watched Jhalak Dikhlaaja season 6 two years ago, the one in which Lauren Gottileb was present as a participant. I'm not that good as a dancer. I love doing it, though The ones going to dance reality shows have the aim of making it in life as dancers, most of the time. I don't see that future, but I definitely want to keep it as my personal hobby forever.

First of all I must say that you are multi talented.. To learn Bharatnatyam and Manipuri is not an easy thing. One requires concerted and dedicated efforts to learn and practice these forms of traditional dance. I am sure that whatever you have learnt, you will not forget easily, with little practice, you could revive your dancing skills. It is unfortunate that you broke your hand and just could not deliver a performance in another college. I am hopeful, many more opportunities will come in future to showcase your talent. I agree with you that you must pursue your passion, as and when time permits you.

I think it's awesome God gave you the gift of dance. What a blessing. I hope you will pursue it as long as you can. I love to dance I now dance for the Lord when I do and it's in my own way to express reverence, love, gratitude, and honor to the Most High God.

exactly, that's what dancing is about. Connecting your rhythm with the rhythm of nature and finding God through this kind of prayer or worship. Thanks a lot @Butchcass4 I will very much try to maintain this form of art.
