Where Would He Sit?

One of my friends is a cobbler. He comes from a poor family. He doesn't have a shop of his own.Sitting by the roadside under the shade of a shop from day to evening he mends shoes and somehow manages to make both ends meet for his family. The shop he sits under the shade of is located at a square where he gets a good number of customers everyday. Recently the shop was sold. The new owner of the shop doesn't want my cobbler friend to sit there. Now my friend is in trouble.Where would he sit? There is no other suitable place in the town.I am worried about him.I am looking for a good place where he can do his business, but it's not easy.

He wants to have a showcase exactly at the place where my friend sits.I tried to explain to him the poor fellows trouble, but he refused to allow him.I am now looking for another suitable place for my friend,a place where he may earn his living.

@SIMPLYD,Thanks.It's my duty. After all he's my childhood friend.Had I been in any problem and had he been in a better position,he too would have tried to help me.One thing,he's a good footballer. On my request he played for our team many times and helped us win many important matches. Now it's my turn.

Ah that's the problem with some people, they do not know the benefits of having some businesses beside them. That new shop owner will also benefit if the people who come to your friend will then go in the store or vice versa. Or at least the customers may get the idea of going in to the store one day if not on that day. Maybe you can talk to the new shop owner about this.

@owstalaga The truth, however,is that we both are lucky to have each other. He too has helped me many a time when I was in trouble. He is a good footballer, and has helped me win many do or die matches although to do so he had to leave his work.On my insistence he gladly agreed to play in our team.

@Owstalaga,I have a good news for you all,my friend. After a lot of effort I somehow managed the new shop owner to allow my cobbler friend to run his small business from a corner of his shop. And it's a better place than the one he used to sit at.

@swissheart,I have talked to some of my friends who have shops along the main road.I have requested them to allow my poor cobbler friend to run his business from under the shade of their shops. They understand the problem.Hopefully they will try to find out a solution.

It is sad that the shop owner doesn't capitalize on this, and do something to bring in business FROM those your friend entices, like sell pops or something to them

Jessalynnt,The new shop owner wants to have a showcase right at the place where my friend sits. The problem with my cobbler friend is he doesn't have any other skill. He can only mend shoes. His father also was a cobbler too.

@Jessicalynnt Last evening three of my rich friends assured me that they will give the poor young man a place to sit and run his business, but their shops are far away from his house. Now I have to see whether he avails of their offer.

@else34 that's sad, well maybe you will get lucky and find a businessman that ends up wanting to share the draw of people, or a better spot.

Sad to see how having too many of us in a small place, makes most of us irrelevant to a chosen few.

@Kchitij2007,the poor are irrelevant to those who are privileged. This has been the norm in this materialistic world.I would be fortunate if I may help him.

@else34 That's true mate. Poverty is the worst of all afflictions. You become irrelevant to the society and a scream from the voiceless is passed off as a whisper.

No need to worry about him. He is well-known and he has many faithful customers. I think there will be a much better place for him. Have faith in God, and you can see how your friend can prosper.

@gudheart,my friend is looking for a place where he may get a good number of customers. The problem is all other suitable places are occupied by others. The town's population is increasing and finding a place along the main road is not easy.

Try to arrange a place is the same market elsewhere (in front of any other shop). He will manage to keep his regular customers if he sits in the vicinity.
