Killing Man Worse Than Killing Animal?

I have always wondered why killing a man is such a crime and not so in the case of animals. If we are truly the intellectually most endowed, why is it then that we are so selfish in just our protection? Shouldn't it be our moral responsibility to extend the right of life to animals too? How hard can it be to shift the laws and penalties regarding murder of a man to those of animals. It only takes some will. Or are we just, by nature, a violent species doomed by our own ways. Thoughts?

Greetings, Kchitij. I believe the real deal about killing humans is that we start to realize: "IT COULD BE ME". When an animal is killed, people see it somehow as something natural. When a human is killed they tend to be worried, because it could be their lives at stake. Yes, we are selfish. And no, our intelligence didn't overcome it. Most of us are worried only about ourselves. It's a shame, I agree with you. Respectfully.

Greetings to you to brother! Its true. Killing any human or animal in self-defense it allowed even by the law. But killing animals for sport! That could be and should be disallowed! Its pure selfishness that makes us create such biased laws! As humans and the dominant species of this planet, the responsibility for their welfare is ours. Not just granting them the ''endangered'' status when their population really starts to dwindle.
