Used Baby Clothes/Stuff

What do you do with your baby's old clothes? Do you keep all of them or give them away or wait for the next baby? My son has a lot of stuff (gifts + things we bought) and it is slowly filling up an entire room! I am not sure when I would like to have a next baby so I am wondering what to do with all these stuff!

I kept almost all of the clothes we had for our first daughter. We used them for the second, and now that she's outgrown a lot of them I'll be passing them on. Some are going to be donated to the classrooms she's been in at the daycare, since they're in need of loaner clothes. Some will just be donated, and I'm planning to get on Totspot.me and list a bunch of the nicer things for sale. If you're planning to store the baby's clothes for any length of time, I'd go through and get rid of heavily stained items. Once you pare it down a bit, pack them away. If you roll the clothes instead of folding them, they'll take up significantly less room in storage.

@cessy_08 I haven't noticed that with the clothes that I stored. I sort them by size and season and store them in plastic boxes.

@yukimori Hmm maybe it has something to do with the water? :-/ I do sort them by season and size, too. But I place them inside plastic bags and then boxes.

That's a good idea! What I don't like with keeping too much clothes is that some of the things kept inside boxes for a long period of time tend to get "stained". I don't know how those yellowish stains get there since I keep it really clean before I place it in boxes but noticed a few dotted yellow stains after a couple of years of not washing. Another thing that makes me wonder whether to keep his current items is that I wanted a girl for the next one. Of course, the probability that the next would be another boy is there, though. LOL!

The baby clothes and stuff of my first child were handed down to my cousins and friends. Then when my second child was born six years later, my cousins and friends also handed down their old baby clothes and stuff to me. Then to my siblings who already have their children. The stuff of the older children were given to the younger children. That also happened to my sons who are already married, they too give their baby stuffs to their cousins. My second son gave their baby stuffs to my older son too.

Hmm come to think of it, some of his clothes with us were given by my cousin, too! Yeah maybe it will be just a cycle of giving it and then receiving when the time comes for it!

@cessy_08 Yes, that is it. It's a sort of a cycle.

We gave all our kids stuff to the Salvation Army here in Canada. They were all in good shape and I am sure that some people were very happy with them.

That's good! We also gave some of his clothes to Oxfam here. :) It is definitely a good way to make use of used baby clothes.
