"The Government" didn't do it - whatever it was

It annoys me when people talk about "the government" as though this was some separate group of people put in charge of us. In the United States, we *elect* our government. Yes, I agree that "big money" has too much influence over those elected people, but that's something I hope we will soon change and in any case, not all are corrupted by that.

I hate the indiscriminate use of the unspecified "they" - as in "they messed up" and "that's what they want you to think".

Yes, that and the "both political parties are working for the real power we cannot see - they want us divided". Utter nonsense.

You make a good point. The voters are the people who allow our politicians to get away with things. We need to speak up more often and pay attention to what is going on.
