Call Me "Baby"

I saw a post of @PhredWreck and I came up on this idea for a discusion. My husband is my high school sweetheart and before the school ends, he ended up our relationship too. Yes, he broke up with me. Haha! After 10 years apart, we accidentally bumped to each other at a train station, then from there the courting started. I have many suitors back then and I pray to enlighten me, to guide me, who should I go and have a relationship with. Then I told to my prayer that if any one of my suitors who will call me "baby" will be the best one for me. Out of the blue, while chatting on the ym messenger, Abraham (my husband's name) call me as his baby. My heart leaped and I knew from there that he is the guy I am waiting and praying for years. How about you? What sweet words you use for your husband/wife/partner?

That is really sweet ...In India normally we are not supposed to take our husband's name for some reason, out of respect ? of course the younger generations dont bother with that.. So I call my husband Ri which is not a pet name but a way of addressing someone respectfully!

I know some wives who call their husband's full name when they're angry.

I don't have a husband or boyfriend right now but when I did, I used words like honey or baby.

@Marilynda1225 Yeah, I think it probably is pretty popular. I used honey more times than when I used his own name

Wow, he's really meant for you ! I call my husband Pa short for Papa which means Dad . He calls me Ne , a shortcut for Nene , or little girl .

90% of the time me and my hubby call each other Baby. Every so often he will call me sweetie, and I will call him My Love, but it is very very rarely we call each other by our given names.

I'm afraid that if anyone addressed me as baby, that would be curtains for that relationship. I am definitley not anyone's baby! Each to his own, and you obviously like it so it's ok.

Long back, not in the distant (or remote past), we did had names for one another. I still call her by the first Alphabets of her name. No one ever called me lovingly(in such cases)... and that is a different story

If someone called me 'baby' he'd be out of the door with my foot on his butt. I find it a deeply patronising way to refer to anyone.

It's very heart touching discussion. Though its very personal but I gave couple of sweet names to my Girlfriend. I call her Babu, Janu, sweety, baby etc. She blush all the times I call her with any of the names. Which produce more love among us. We are together for last 2 years. Planning to Marry soon.
