I applied to a rescue to try and get this puppy. They emailed me back saying they would start the application process.. then less than an hour later emailed me again saying that the litter of pups came down with an illness and cant be adopted right now. I emailed her back and told her I would wait and wanted to make it clear I would still be interested. A few days went by and the link where I found him on petfinder went inactive and his pic and littermates were taken down. Getting nervous and hoping it wasn't because anyone died.. I emailed her again to ask how they were and inquire about the illness... also just to let them know I was still interested and thinking about him. I got a reply back saying that some of the litter had contracted Parvo.. which if you don't know can be deadly for puppies. If they pull through they will be fine.. I know this as I have saved two parvo puppies and they are both over 90 pound dogs now. :) I thanked her for letting me know and told her that this did not deter me from wanting him as I have a parvo survivor and know he will be fine. So my fingers are crossed my prayers are out there... I hope this puppy is not sick or if he is that he pulls through and most of all I hope that I get approved to adopt him... I have 3 dogs now.. but I think we need to have some excitement pumped back in our lives.. we just lost my 13 year old Collie a few months ago. Have you ever had to wait and wait and get stressed out just wondering and hoping.. I sure hope I get this little guy or I will be crushed. he's listed as a German Shepherd/Great Dane mix.

Vala
@velvet53 she has.. she is a really great puppy. she is very playful and independent.. she often plays by herself (somewhat like an only child) if the older dogs don't feel like playing.

Before we rescued our two current puppies we applied to the RSPCA to adopt one of their dogs, we saw one we liked, had many visits over a week to get to know the dog and started the application. They insisted on a home check, and all though they loved the house and us, our fence was one inch below their standards and feared the dog would jump over. One inch is not much - and previous dogs have never jumped over - nor have my current two. We withdrew our application due to their red tape and got our dogs else where!

I hate that.. they are ridiculous with these things. They cause many dogs to not be adopted because of their stupid rules.. I often read what the rescue groups want on their app and get so annoyed as to all their rules that I don't bother.. this one just asked whether your yard was fenced or not and said it does not matter whether it is.. that a fenced yard was not a requirement and I liked that .. not because our yard isn't fenced.. it is .. it's not the best but it keeps my dogs in the yard.. (they do periodically break through it - we patch it and start over) But when they do get out I am fight behind them because I don't just leave my dogs in the back yard unattended either.. I like this group because they were honest and willing to work with you so that these dogs could be adopted.. NOT everyone has a fenced yard.. Or heck, Even a yard. what IF you live in a condo ? that wont make you a good parent?! Some of there rule are way to strict!

@minx267 I know, they are causing many dogs to go without homes - the one dog I was looking at had not had anyone wanting to take him home for 8 months - we were willing to take him and work on his issues (caused by being in the shelter for so long) but, oh no - 1 inch = 4cm in the fence prevented the dog from having a loving home!

@destry That is just wrong! they should be grateful someone wants him. If everything else checked out.. Geez. that's like putting the cart before the horse. creating a problem ie. dog jumping fence.. before there actually is one.. you should have said , look if it ever jumps at the fence we will get a taller one.. until then we would rather invest that money into some training and treats and toys for him , Okay?

Bitty Bits and Ryder Photo take by My Phone
I love it that you adopt your fur babies . I have 3 rescues and one little girl that was the last of a litter that our older female had not too long after we got her. My daughters dog Ryder had belonged to my oldest daughters ex , the kid was always homeless because he wouldn't work and there was no telling if Ryder would get to eat like he should so Shawnee adopted him. We had him fixed and he is stout and treated like a prince . Just a mix breed fellow with lots of love to give. Then there is Kitty she is an older chihuahua , the reason the people wanted to get rid of her was because she likes to snuggle TOO MUCH. personally that is what I like the most about her. If I hadn;t taken her she would have gone to the Shelter. Next up is Precious Little Bit, my oldest son found her hiding under the steps by his apartment . He thought someone had lost her so he walked around to all the apartment but no one claimed her, she is a tiny little chihuahua . She was making his cats miserable so she came to live with mama .

What an adorable pup. You sound like a perfect fur person's Mom. Parvo is nasty business. Years ago I worked back office in a Vet's so a neighbor thought I could help her with her dog. She'd let it run and it came down with parvo. She had the dog on an IV drip at home and there was nothing I could do.
