Put down the cell phone...real life is right in front of you!

There was a photo on Facebook during the Pope's visit to the USA. In the shot there must have been 200 people holding up their cell phones to get a shot of the Pope. There was one older woman, right in the front row without a cell phone. Her eyes were watching the Pope - she enjoyed him in 'real life'...good for her. While you're blabbering on your cell or taking photos, you are missing out on what's really happening. I can't believe that a family can go to a restaurant and instead of enjoying the company and the food, they act like total strangers - they all do their own thing on their phones. You might as well stay home and do that. So, give real life a try and put down the cell phone, you might like it.

True, there are some people who have to go to digital detox camp just to get rid of cell phone addiction. I think it is a stupid idea to let cell phone eats up our life.

@AbbyGreenhill (3316) You are so right. I agree we all need the cell phones but not when it interferers with our lives.

Mine is in a drawer - I bought it for emergency calls only - like if we have a tornado and the power goes out! but I don't give out the number, I don't even know the number!

That is really good advice to put down the cell phones, when I go to a restaurant so many people do nothing but gab on their cell phone and the family is left there to do what? The kids run wild and he husband drinks more and more.

I notice the cell phone craziness all around me. I don't get it. I only make calls on mine.

@AbbyGreenhill At one time there were no cell phones or computers and people managed perfectly well without either.

You are right, they need to put the phones down sometimes. I really hate seeing people at the window at the post office or bank chatting on the phone, for those few minutes they are at the window they need to GET OFF THE PHONE!

Oh. Man. I agree so much. I saw a picture on Facebook recently and it said "your cell phone has replaced your camera, your alarm Clark, your calendar, don't let it replace your family." The same could go do real life too!

Unfortunately the Technology world has taken over and people are addicted to cell phones and computers. When it's dinner time, it's a time to come together, and everyone should put their cellphones down.

It is like when I went to Maui, several years ago. I spent most of the time holding up a camcorder (back in the days when they were kind of big) that I really did not get to spent very good quality time while on vacation. Although, I was able to take time to enjoy the Luau and take some hula lessons!
