Spoiler alerts 1952 The Bladerunner author wrote a lot of great short stories including this little gem. A toy seller sells a precocious boy a small complex clockwork toy soldier who turns out to be alive. It tells the boy to keep its life a secret, call it Lord and to get it a stash of toy guns and tanks from a particular factory so it can take over the planet. However the boy’s other toys defend the Earth and destroy the soldier. A fun idea that may well have influenced the Small Soldiers movie and the Toy Story franchise. Arthur Chappell

That is interesting that it could have influenced the Toy Story franchise.
