Dengue Outbreak AGAIN?!?

Dengue Mosquito
West Haven, Connecticut

Im not sure if many of you are familiar with the Dengue fever that can kill anyone in less than 8 hours after being bit. The mosquito that transmits this virus has long legs and looks fuzzier than a normal mosquito. This is very scary for me since I have 3 kids and last week they all had fever, thank god they are better now but next time they catch a fever im rushing them to the hospital to get a hemogram test done and make sure they dont have dengue fever. This was a pandemic in my country a few years ago and the word is that its happening again but they are trying not to alert or inform the public so they wont panic, ect.

@gudheart it can be treated if you get to the hospital asap, but many people mistake the sintoms of dengue for a common cold and pass away due to negligence

We have a problem with that too in our country. We both have the same concern. Hope nobody in your family gets it. It helps if you maintain clean surroundings.

Thats correct, also the lack of education, we can prevent the spread and reproduction of this mosquito but ignore the obvious and do nothing until someone in our family gets sick ect

the mosquito in your picture is the aedes aegyptii mosquito which is the carrier of dengue hemorrhagic fever. the other mosquito that causes health problem is the female anopheles mosquito which is the vector for malaria.
