How far friendship will take you?

I generally believe in good people. If a pen friend from Europe comes to my place, I will give food and accommodation and all possible help. I derive pleasure in interactions between different cultures. I also expect the same when I visit a friend's house. But nowadays, here people do not visit friends and such visits are out of date and it will annoy them, they say. I would like to know the situation in other parts of the world.

this world has really changed since i was a child, alot of cold hearted people and closed doors....i have lived my life in group homes not cuz i was bad but my mom need help! well i was raised up n them...what i called jail! i know heartless folks and kind people!...and at the age of 16 i was out on the street and i always had a place to lay my head! idk it was becuase i was young or time was diffrent...im thinking its more of the time! people dont trust folks! and what i been though who could blame them....but im in america alot is different!
