I don't have a college degree, but I am working on an associates in computer networking and going for a computer programming certificate from my community college. I've been doing some freelance programming and am rather proficient with computers. will the Microsoft Certifications get me anywhere now, without or college degree?

A college degree is much better than your average cert. Since there are so many brain dumps out there...it devalues a certification. What you want to avoid is becoming a "paper" candidate. Meaning, you have all these certs and book knowledge but no practical application through experience. If you are working on a networking degree there really is no reason you should go after a programming cert. Look more towards MCSE or any one of the Cisco certs. If you want just a general entry level cert, look at CompTIA Network+.
